I went to The San Francisco Zen Center, Green Gulch’s first ever “Feasting in the Fields” event hosted in and throughout their beautiful flower, herb, fruit and vegetable fields. The tables were beautifully adorned with fresh baked breads, yummy pesto and olives. The three courses all came from the gardens around us. Throughout the afternoon, we heard wonderful talks from the gardeners, folks involved with the Ferry Building, Bi-rite market and 18 reasons non-profit.
This summer, on my postage stamp, fog and wind swept yard, I grew stuff. Organically. And it was all yummy. There is something so satisfying about eating something you have actually grown. It tastes different. I love my Planet Organic box of fruits and veggies; I love my neighborhood farmer’s market, but I love that this summer, I also grew stuff.
For those of you who can’t imagine what would grow in my yard: tomatoes, arugula, mint, lemons, rosemary, and basil.http://bit.ly/UbMhA
